Meet the Teacher

Meet the Teacher

Hi.  My name is Mrs. Alisa Warner-Mercier.  The children here call me Mrs. Mercier.  Sometimes you will see my name as Warner and other times as Mercier.  Sorry for the confusion.  I've recently remarried a wonderful man - Charlie Mercier.

This is my 12th year at BRCVPA and I love it here!  My professional resume includes the following highlights:

  • National Board Certified Teacher - Class of 2007
  • 2001 East Baton Rouge Teacher of the Year
  • 28 years teaching experience in East Baton Rouge Parish - 11 years as a 4th grade teacher and 17 years as Special Education teacher.
  • Masters Degree from LSU.

Besides a new husband, I have two beautiful daughters - Jolie and Rebecca.  Jolie is working at the Main Library on Goodwood Blvd. and getting a Masters in Library Science.   Rebecca has finally graduated from LSU and is traveling the world - working on a goat farm and soon to be picking olives in Greece.  When I married Charlie, I gained 3 more children and 6 grandchildren.  Chuck lives in Oregon.  Chuck has 2 children - Mahlon and Corrine.   Mary Kate now lives in Baton Rouge.  She will be attending BRCC this fall.  Mary Kate has 2 sons - Hunter and Patrick.  Hunter attends pre-school in Mrs. Laura's class.  Audrey lives in Denham Springs with her two children, Kelly Ann and Ian. I also have three precious dogs -Molly, Becky, and Ember.

I love teaching 4th grade at our school.  Some of my favorite projects include the 4th grade opera in the fall and the Wax Museum in the 4th 9 weeks.
