    From the Principal . . . .

My vision for Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts centers on the premise that all students can be motivated to learn at the highest possible levels.  Students will be excited about learning, excited about what they learn, and will be able to express their new-found knowledge thought various appropriate modalities.  The arts will be thoroughly integrated utilizing thematic instruction, thereby reinforcing and giving relavance to instruction and student learning.  Instruction and learning will be made further relevant by connecting with student's personal life experiences.

Classroom teachers and arts specilists will collaborate and share expertise.  Teachers will be facilitators of inquiry and investigation, creating classrooms of authentically engaged students.  Emphasis will be placed on displaying student work including classroom initiated products as well as drama, dance, musical performance, art studio and creative writing products.  Opportunities for student writing will reinforce most if not all learning experiences.

Parents and teachers will share in the excitement of learing with their children.  We will work together as a learning community, continually stiving to improve opportunities for student learning
