The Process

The 4th graders met on the first day of school to begin creating their own original opera.

Their first job was to decide on a group name.  After much debate the United All Stars Opera Company was born!  The BG stands for boys and girls.

Theme and Thesis

 Job Fair

Students were given a taste of the possible opera job during a two day job fair. 

 Work Crews

Each company member was assigned to a work crew.  Students were placed based on auditions and expressed interest.  The writers are given the daunting task of writing a 20 minute script which incorporates the theme of temptation.  The rest of the crews also got to work. The lighting crew began building footlights out of tin cans, the composers created a song based on the thesis statements, the choreographers were planning moves, and the carpenters began constructing wooden flats for the set.  Meanwhile, the performers were developing acting skills, and the costume and the make-up crews were learning techniques of their craft.  The set design and publicity created our company logo and then began working designing the stage sets and making sure the public is aware of this work.
